DISSOLVING YOUR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL BARRIERS

Most human suffering comes from ignorance.
You see, the human mind is always balanced. Our intuition knows there are always two sides to any event or perceived challenge; however, our human nature desires a one-sided approach to life.
In this sense, we strive for ease without difficulty, pleasure without pain, reward without challenge. We wish for things to fit perfectly into our model of how life ‘should be’, and so we foster lopsided perceptions and strive in ignorance to live a one-sided, dis-equilibrated life, consequently manifesting emotions like fear, anger, shame, low self-worth, anxiety, depression …
However, when you stop and look at things objectively, when you persistently ask yourself the right questions in the face of difficult circumstances (What is the up-side to my perceived negative event or challenge? What opportunity is this bringing me? How does this challenging moment work to my advantage?) your intuition reveals the necessary complement, the ‘other side’ to your situation.
Once you have done the mental work to acknowledge the balance in every situation, to find the hidden order in your perceived challenges, to see that even the most difficult of times have their benefits – the ‘blessings in the stressing’, as we say – you will experience a moment of true mindfulness: seeing the whole, balanced perfection of a moment. This is what I call wisdom… And with wisdom, brain noise quietens; we become more mindful and more grateful; we can be fearless, guiltless, and light; we can enjoy to the fullest the quietness in our souls.
Einstein once said: All pairs of opposites are entangled.
So too, in accordance with our human nature, do we tend to strive for a one-sided life, trying to experience the joys without the sorrows and the challenges. Let us balance out our perceptions and emotions with wise questions in order to reap the rewards of our intuitive wisdom to the fullest.
