Stress the inability to adapt to a changing environment

Everyone has their story, it’s what defines us, impacts us. It’s part of our being, doing and having. Our individual stories can be the fuel that drives us or which dampens our fire and inhibits our zest for life. I have heard people say, “I just cannot seem to get past this event, trauma or experience. I feel resentment, grief, anger. It’s keeping me stuck in a place I do not want to be, but I don’t know how to unravel it.”

No matter what your story, there is another way of looking at it and turning the perceived negativity into fuel. I love helping people see this other side to their story. Having worked with people from different countries, cultures and varied life challenges I believe everyone has the ability to turn their story into fuel. The event must be examined with some quality questions that will shine a light on the parts of the story that they wish were different, allowing them to open their hearts to a life less burdened and hindered by past events.

Oprah stated, ‘forget the past could be any different’. It is human nature to want to change a painful past event or to at least understand the cause and effect of what happened. Truthfully, that line of thinking could end up taking you all the way back to the Big Bang! It is far wiser to remain in the present and ask quality questions to find the upside and blessing in the perceived emotional challenge of the now. I refer to this as quantum mindfulness. Bringing a perceived negative emotion together with its complimentary opposite, upside or benefit births a moment of grace and light. Just like a light bulb needs both a positive and negative charge in order to shine, so too for our own human experiences and emotions.

A quality question is one that brings balance to one’s perspective. It brings polarised emotions back to a centralised point restoring the mind to poise and equilibrium. In my opinion, this is the cornerstone of masterful living. Every client is different. Some only need one or two quality questions to break through their perceived negative story, recalibrate and move forward. Others choose to master the art of understanding what a quality question is and to master mindfulness as a tool to successfully manage their demanding lifestyles.
Baggage can be left behind as you realise your story’s potential fuel to propel you forward to a new level of being, doing and having.

So, which part of your story needs to become your fuel instead of your hindrance?
